Explore Our Corner of the Lake District

The Perfect Location

Pheasant Lodge, Field Broughton – near Cartmel, LA11 6HW

The Pheasant Lodge sits in Field Broughton, a peaceful hamlet in the Cartmel Valley, surrounded by rolling countryside and green views from every window. Just two miles from Cartmel village and four miles from Fell Foot at the southern tip of Lake Windermere, it’s ideally placed to explore the very best of the Lake District National Park.

This quiet corner of South Lakeland offers the perfect mix of seclusion and convenience. From the lodge, you can be wandering the cobbled streets of Cartmel in minutes – discovering its artisan shops, cosy pubs and award-winning restaurants – or heading towards the water for a day of walking, sailing or even wild swimming if you can brave the cold.

It’s also a lovely place to slow down and enjoy the peace. The area is filled with wildlife, woodland and gardens, and the roads around Field Broughton are quiet enough for gentle walks straight from the door. Whether you’re here to explore, eat, or simply unwind, The Pheasant Lodge offers a calm base for enjoying everything the Lake District has to offer.

Where to visit locally

Cartmel Village, 2 miles south:

A beautiful small medieval village with a huge range of activities. Packed with cafes, pubs and Michelin starred restaurants, with a range of mouth-watering local flavours. Cartmel Priory is a must-see with a rich heritage.

Don’t forget Cartmel Racecourse for a fun day out too, with 9 race days across the spring and summer months. You can also take a stroll through the woodland behind the racecourse and carry on to Holker Hall.

Grange-over-Sands, 4 miles:

A quiet seaside retreat on the shores of Morecambe Bay. There are a range of small shops and supermarkets and some great cafes. We particularly love the walk along the promenade where you’ll find cafés and small parks along the coastline.

Fell Foot, 4 miles – Lake Windermere

Situated at the south of Lake Windermere, close to Newby Bridge, Fell Foot is a beautiful place to enjoy wild swimming, water sports activities or just relaxing by the lake. We often picnic here but there is also a café which has a range of hot and cold food, a pizza van and a delicious ice cream shop.
