You’re spoilt for choice with Christmas events in the Lake District this year – it seems everyone is getting involved. But what if you want a guaranteed chance to meet the Big Guy himself? Many of our families ask where to see Santa in the Lake District, so I’ve put together a helpful list of the best spots, including a few I can’t wait to visit myself.

They’re mostly focused on the South Lakes near The Pheasant Lodge. From boat and train rides to markets, choirs and festive shows, these experiences are sure to keep big and small kids alike entertained.

Christmas Grotto to meet Mr and Mrs Claus. Plus, Christmas market with over 60 stalls.

A festive train journey through the Lake District Countryside with a visit from Santa.

10. Ambleside Christmas light switch-on
15th November 2025
Santa Cruise on the Lake. Morning Cruise to look for Santa. In the afternoon Santa will be wandering next to the Lake. Santa sleigh ride at 4pm with fireworks at 5.30-6pm.
Activities start at 10.30am with first cruise.

11. Levens Hall
Saturdays and Sundays on the run up to Christmas
Father Christmas will be in the old nursery in the house. Choirs and musicians from the local area to perform.
