Everything you need to know to help plan your stay
At The Pheasant Lodge, we want every guest to feel comfortable and confident when planning their stay. If you’re looking for accessible accommodation in the Lake District, we’ve set out the key details below. With parking right outside the door and a spacious layout across much of the house, we’ve aimed to make things as straightforward as possible. Explore the details below to see if the lodge is the right fit for you.

Access to the property
You can drive right up to the house, with parking just a metre or so from the front door. There’s space for up to three cars, including larger vehicles, so access is straightforward once you arrive. The driveway is gravel, so it isn’t a completely smooth surface, which is worth bearing in mind for wheelchairs or mobility aids. From the driveway, the entrance to the house is flat with no steps.
The front door itself is wide (approximately 90cm), which can make access easier, particularly for guests who need a bit more space when entering.
Inside the house
Most of the house is set across one level, particularly the front part of the property where you’ll find the lounge and two of the bedrooms. These areas are spacious, with wide doorways and plenty of room to move around.
There are two single steps within the house – one step down into the bathroom, and one step up into the kitchen area.
These are original stone steps as part of the Georgian layout, so they’ve always been part of the character of the house.
The dining room and kitchen sit to the back of the property, accessed via that single step, so it’s worth being aware of if you’re looking for completely step-free movement throughout.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms
The bedrooms are all generously sized, with plenty of space around the beds, which can be helpful for guests who need a bit more room to move or use mobility aids.
The bathroom is a family bathroom with a standard layout, including a bath with overhead shower and a standard toilet. It’s not a walk-in or adapted bathroom, and space is more typical compared to the rest of the house.
General comfort
The house is fully centrally heated, and we also provide additional plug-in heaters that can be moved around if you’d like extra warmth in certain rooms.
The lounge has a log-burning fire, which makes it a really cosy space to relax in. There’s a mix of lighting throughout the house, including lamps, so you can adjust the lighting to suit you.
