What you’ll find at Unsworth’s Yard Cartmel
Unsworth’s Yard in Cartmel is a charming hub of food, drink and entertainment – all set in a picturesque, historic courtyard. You’ll find everything from artisanal food, cocktails, wine, tapas, ale from it’s own brewery, an award winning cheese shop and pizzas. It’s the perfect spot to soak up the Cartmel village atmosphere.
- Oscar’s – A lively bar and small plates restaurant with views over Cartmel Priory. On the ground floor you’ll find the ‘snug’ with roaring fire for colder days. Expect a great wine, cocktail and beer list.
- Cartmel Cheese Shop – A small artisan cheese shop, located in the courtyard. A special moment just walking in and sliding the huge door back to uncover the delicious aroma of fromage. Huge wheels of cheese await you inside, sourced by their team of experts. Cartmel Cheese shop also make handmade pizzas using authentic Italian ingredients. Available Friday and Saturday Evenings, 4.40-8.30pm from March to October.
- Unsworth’s Yard Brewery – An open-door brewery, welcoming customers 7 days a week, with tasting room and shop. In addition, they’re also open to questions and you can peek at their brewhouse through the huge glass window.
- Unsworth’s Bar – Located downstairs in Oscar’s, Unsworth’s run a great bar with huge wine list, innovative cocktail menu and delicious selection of gins. Also they know their drinks – so if you can’t decide what to order, ask their team.
- Live Music – Throughout the year at weekends, you’ll be able to hear live music at Unsworth’s Yard from local talent. From rock, to pop to indie – a mix of tunes from past to present.
Tips from the locals
It’s great to go to Unsworths and use all the shops and eateries on offer. So if you all have different tastes, you can grab your favourite drink or food and take a seat in the courtyard together. Enjoy the outdoor seating on warmer days or take shelter under the retractable roof on cooler days, which as a bonus has outdoor heaters.
We often pick a selection of cheeses, with biscuits and chutney from Cartmel Cheeses. Then pair them with a few glasses of wine from Unsworth’s bar. We can easily while away a few hours, maybe evening listening to music at the weekend.
Be Warned: Bank Holidays and Cartmel Racecourse days can get busy. So if you want a seat, get there early!
