A mother-daughter team sharing their love for the Lake District.
I’m Hannah and I co-own The Pheasant Lodge Holiday home in the Lake District with my Mum, Kath. We bought Pheasant Lodge in 2022. We have taken it from a dark and gloomy property – to the property you can see, and stay in today. Our spacious, bright and beautiful holiday home is right in the heart of the Lake District National Park. We’d love you to come and stay.

Our blog series will tell you about our holiday home – the features, views, the space and more. Plus we wanted to share some of our knowledge and expertise of the local area. How we spend our time here, the best places to eat, our favourite adventures, where we walk, swim, hike and things that bring us joy.
First a little about us. I’m Hannah and I’ve worked in Marketing and PR for over 15 years. I juggle my work with 3 active children, who love adventures and the outdoors as much as I do. Pheasant Lodge is my ‘joy job’ – as I just love showing people this part of the world and letting them share our wonderful holiday home.
We love to spend our weekends exploring new walks, finding cool swim spots and ending the day with a good old English pub. So I have a few recommendations for those too. I use Pheasant Lodge as my excuse to see and try everything. So once I’ve done it – I’ll let you know my thoughts and whether you should do it too. You’ll find that all here on the blog.

Kath, born-again Lake District Enthusiast
My mum Kath is a born-again Lake District enthusiast. Having grown up in the epitome of suburbia (yes it was Surbiton, Surrey), she had no idea about the magic and beauty of Cumbria. Imagine how life-changing it was for her when she moved to Field Broughton, outside Cartmel.

In her own words, she enthuses about this special and unique part of the world.
‘I am constantly amazed and grateful to enjoy this unique location. It offers me tranquillity, health-enhancing walks, the ever-changing bounty of nature and a sense of belonging. Wordsworth’s most famous poem ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’ has a line that refers to the daffodils which ‘flash upon the inward eye’. I feel that my wellbeing is enhanced by what I see around me and recall inwardly. I love the fact that we can share this life-enhancing area with our guests.’
The psychology of happiness and attentiveness are key academic interests for Mum. For her Masters’ focus she researched the power of our attention capacity (and what we pay attention to) and how this affects our mind-state. Along with her enthusiasm for the Lake District, she is also passionate about supporting people to steer their careers (as a Career Coach), believing everyone needs to be career happy.
We’re always here if you have any questions or need any information about The Pheasant Lodge. You can also follow us on Instagram, Tik Tok and Facebook and sign up to our newsletters for offers, ideas and more.
We look forward to hearing from you.
